This is the launch of new music, described by some as ‘sketchy bluesy disco’, sporting influences from Talking Heads to Lou Reed, Curtis Mayfield to the Black Keys. An antidote to FREDDI’s 2016 project OTIUM. The result of 12 months writing and recording. Album soon to be released with singles dropped from APRIL 2025.
This live performance is a first outing from JASON FREDDI BAND at the Geelong music mecca, THE BARWON CLUB, featuring LIAM BRENNAN on bass and JAMES NOGA on drums.
In his book Profanations (2007), Italian philosopher, Giorgio Agamben, writes:
“To profane means to return to common use what has been taken away and conferred to the sphere of the sacred.”
From the song lyric —
‘We got experts to tell you / What you’ve already heard, / Women here to sooth you / in places where it hurts;
We’ve got money, money, money / So fill your pockets with sin, / No matter how you play the game / The dealer always wins--’
‘Here comes the ProffaNation / Proffess the advice / Take care for what you’re thinking / They haven’t a thought.’
