This is an invitation to subscribe to receive new music…
Why release new music on substack?
With the music streaming revolution, the concept of an album is losing its significance. But as an artist I still create songs as a themed unit. Hence this experiment in online music release.
You will receive an email to your inbox every fortnight or so including the songs, videos, live performances and news around the DREAMING AUSTRALIA concept. And of course the music is available on CD, LP and streaming.
I want to share the art and the experience of making music; to show you what goes on behind the scenes of the creative acts; to introduce you to my artistic collaborators and widen the circle of those of us who live the creative dream. I want it to be entertaining and personal.
This newsletter is as an attempt to ‘out myself’ in artistic self expression. I yearn for the artistic relief of a cultural expression that moves us into, and beyond, the political and historical creation of our social reality.
For those of you subscribed to my journalism substack DREAMING AUSTRALIA, this newsletter is a spiritual complement. Where that newsletter aims at truth-telling, I DO IT WITH MY MOUTH is an attempt at concealment. As Orson Welles once said, ‘Art is the lie that tells the truth’…we make believe.
I am a firm believer that the artist needs an audience and that art is never just for the sake of the art. Please join me on this journey.

About Jason Freddi
JASON FREDDI is at the forefront of cross-cultural events on indigenous lands, most notably the Bonnet Series, which pioneered an artist-exchange program from Central Australia into North-East China beginning in 2019.
After an earlier career in music and Shakespearean drama, Jason ventured into movie-making, acting the lead role in Luis Bayonas' 2018 feature film, 'Virtual Dogs, Loaded Guns' alongside Australia screen legend John Waters. We then produced the infamous #trumpmytrump which went twitter viral and featured in reports from ABC Australia to the Washington Post, Jerusalem Times and elsewhere.
He has a passion for cultural sharing and friendship with Aboriginal Australia, attending the Uluru Statement Form the Heart summit in 2017 and actively supporting the not-for-profit charity, Dreaming Australia Inc, dedicated to Kids on Country, not in Custory.
Music wise, Freddi has played regional festivals, toured China as a cultural ambassador and worked with some of the countries most celebrated producers, among them being Roger Bergodaz (Tex Perkins, Mia Dyson), David McLuney (Nick Cave, Dave Graney, Mick Harvey) and now ISAAC BARTER (Mick Flannery, Didirri, Goanna) on the DREAMING AUSTRALIA songs.
